Dementia is a tragic reality that affects not only the person suffering from it, but also, and in equally important measure, all those who take care of the sufferer from day to day. From the moment the disease appears, relatives must prepare themselves to reorganize their daily professional, personal and social lives, as well as acquiring an awareness of the economic, legal and, naturally, medical matters involved. This work is aimed at families having to face a new situation due to this disease, as well as the healthcare centres for people with dementia. Its aim to is improve sufferers’ quality of life, while maintaining stability, confidence, self-esteem and dignity.
