Vanessa Balague: She holds a degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Barcelona. She works in the Ecology of Marine Microbes Group at the Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC), focusing on the application of molecular techniques for the genetic identification of microorganisms in different marine habitats. Clara Cardelus: She holds a degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Barcelona. She works in the Ecology of Marine Microbes Group at the Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC). She has participated in several oceanographic campaigns, also in Antarctica. Magda Villa: She holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Barcelona. She works in the Plankton Ecology and Ocean Health Group at the Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC). She is a member of the ICM-CSIC Marine Scientific Culture Committee.
