A young woman is overjoyed to discover she is pregnant. So the rollercoaster starts, planning to redecorate the house with her partner, choosing a name, imagining their new life together. Then one morning something happens on her way to work: taking a short-cut through a park she is surprised by two dogs who knock her to the ground before their owner has time to get them under control. In the hospital, she finds out that the foetus is unharmed, but one of the doctors on her case sees something on the ultra-sound that should have been picked up earlier. This is a powerful book about abortion, a topic that really needs to be discussed. This young author has huge talent and with a skilful command of narrative resources, avoiding sentimentality, she genuinely moves the reader and makes them think. At the same time, if indirectly, this book draws a portrait of contemporary Spanish society - focussing particularly on the youngest generation.
