Vergés Princep, Gerard; Blanch Gisbert, Ignasi

Gerard Vergés i Príncep. Born in Tortosa in 1931, he became one of the great authors of Catalan literature. A multi-faceted intellectual (poet, author, essayist, translator), he sent forth a prolific output from the far south of Catalonia. He won various literary prizes, including the Carles Riba prize, the Josep Pla fiction prize, the Josep Valleverdú essay prize and the Serra d'Or prize for poetry translation. Gerard Vergés died in Tortosa on the 23rd of April 2014, St George's Day. Ignasi Blanch I Gisbert (born Roquetes, 1964). He is an illustrator and, resident in Berlin at the time of the fall of the wall, he was chosen as the only Spanish representative for the international East Side Gallery project. He works as an illustrator for various publishers and since 2001 he has also collaborated on exhibitions and educational sessions at the Children's and Young Adult's Book Salon in Saarbrücken (Germany).
