Cuca Canals

Cuca Canals studied Information Science at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. Until 1992 she worked in Advertising, winning some of the most important national and international prizes. As a scriptwriter she has worked on films such as Jamón Jamón (Silver Lion at the Venice Festival) Huevos de Oro (Golden Balls) (Special Jury Prize at the Festival de San Sebastián), La Teta y La Luna (The Tit and the Moon) (Golden Osella for the best script at the Venice Film Festival) or La Camarera del Titánic (The Chambermaid on the Titanic) (Premio Goya for best script). She has written four novels for adults: Berta la Larga (Tall Bertha) (1996), La Hescritora (1998), Llora, Alegría (Cry, Joy) (1999) and 500,000 Historias de Amor (500,000 Love Stories) (2005), all to great critical and public acclaim. Her novels have been translated into English, Dutch, Portuguese, Hebrew, German, Polish, Turkish, Farsi and Italian.
