Borja Ortíz de Gondra

Borja Ortíz de Gondra (Bilbao, 1965) studied law, theatre studies and translation. In his long career as a playwright he has won awards including the Calderón de la Barca, the Lope de Vega and the Max award for Best Theatre Author for various works performed in Argentina, Spain, France, Mexico and Romania, and translated into several languages (Reasonable Doubt and Memento Mori). His more recent work explores the possibilities of autofiction in drama: The Gondras (a Basque Story) and The Other Gondras (Basque Tale). As a translator he has worked for international organisations and has translated French and English literature into Spanish. He has lived in Paris and Geneva and currently moves between New York and Madrid. You'll Never Be a Real Gondra is his first novel.
