Eloy Tizón was born in Madrid in 1964. The critic Rafael Conte described him as "the most original, personal and surprising of our storytellers". He is the author of three novels: The Singing Voice (2004) Labia (2001) and Wild Silk (1995), which was a finalist for the Herralde prize, as well as two highly celebrated books of short stories: Blinking (2006) and The Velocity of Gardens (1992), a landmark work that has accumulated various important accolades: it was selected by El País critics as one of the 100 most interesting Spanish books of the last 25 years and by the magazine Chimera as one of the best books of short stories in twentieth-century Spanish literature. His work has been translated into various languages and is included in numerous anthologies. He was recently included among the best European storytellers in Banville's Best European Fiction 2013 anthology.
