Pilar Adón was born in Madrid in 1971. Galaxia Gutenberg published her novel Las efímeras (Ephimera) in 2015 to great critical and reader acclaim, being considered one of the best novels of the year. In 2017 Galaxia Gutenberg published her collection of short stories La vida sumergida (Life Underwater). In 2003 her novel Las hijas de Sara (Sara's Daughters) appeared and she was awarded Radio Nacional España's prestigious Premio Ojo Crítico prize for her short story collection Viajes inocentes (Innocent Journeys). In 2010, she published the short stories El mes más cruel (The Cruelest Month), for which she was nominated for the Fnac New Talent list and was longlisted for the Setenil and Tigre Juan prizes. She is the author of the poetry collections Da dolor (Painful), Las órdenes (Orders; Best Book of the Year, from the Asociación de Librerías de Madrid), Mente animal (Animal Mind) and La hija del cazador (The Hunter's Daughter), (2020, 2018, 2014 y 2011). She currently translates works of fiction and essays from English to Spanish.
