Nina Melero

Nina Melero is an author from Madrid who lives in South-East Asia. She is currently the coordinator for the Spanish department at the National University of Singapore. her novel 'Ella y el faro' ('Her and the Lighthouse') (Nazarí, 2020) was shortlisted for the 72nd Premio Nadal. 'Archipiélago' ('Archipelago') is her fourth book. Her interest in navigation and life at sea has led her to take part in different projects around the Malay Archipelago on traditional boats, like the second expedition to Balangay in the Philippines (2018), maritime routes between Java and Borneo (2016-17) and to Krakatoa in 2017. She has also visited several communities of sea-faring nomads, like the Sama-Bajau (Philippines) and the Orang Laut (Indonesia). These experiences form the basis for her novel 'Archipiélago' ('Archipelago').
