Mariano Quirós

Mariano Quirós (born in Resistencia, province of Chaco, Argentina, in 1979) is the author of novels ROBLES (Oaks) (First Premio Bienal-CFI prize), TORRENTE (Torrent) (Premio Festival Iberamericano de Nueva Narrativa), RIO NEGRO (Premio Laura Palmer no ha muerto) (Laura Palmer Hasn't Died Prize) TANTO CORRER (So Much Running) (Premio Francisco Casavella) and NO LLORES, HOMBRE MADURO (Don't Cry, Grown Man) (Premio Festival Azabache and Premio Memorial Silverio Cañada, at the 'Black Week' literary festival of Gijón) and short story collection LA LUZ MALA DENTRO DE MI (The Evil Light Inside Me) (first Premio del Fondo Nacional de las Artes). He directs, together with Pablo Black, the imprint Colección Mulita. A House Next To The River Tragadero won the Premio Tusquets Editores de Novela 2017, the jury presided over by Juan Marsé praising 'the strength of a survival story set in a hostile natural environment, the hypnotic power in a series of threats and dangers encountered by the protagonist, and the sophistication of the novel's composition.'
