María Menéndez-Ponte is an author of novels and short stories, aimed mainly at children and young adults. Many of her books have been very successful in terms of sales, for example, "Nunca seré tu héroe" (I Will Never be Your Hero) which sold over 100,001 copies going on to win the Libro de Oro 2006. This title has now been through more than forty editions and featured in various collections. Her series involving "Pupi" is well-loved by children and the series has been hugely successful. The author has also worked on the production of several text books, on musical projects, screenplays and has written many magazine articles. In 2007 she received the Children's Cervantes Prize in recognition of her body of work.
