Luis Salvago

Born in Valencia in 1964, the author is a non-commissioned officer in the Air Force with a degree in Geography and History from the University of Valencia. He was shortlisted for the 2017 Azorín Prize for his work It will rain in September (Lloverá en septiembre), as well as for the 2018 Nadal Prize with Bârân, and was winner of the 2019 Vargas Llosa Novel Prize with In the name of Father (En el nombre de Padre). For him, reading and writing are two sides of a triangle, with the final side being a quest: the need to know the true origin of a story, its triggers and how each narrator’s subjectivity changes its meaning. In this novel, Luis Salvago chronicles the origin of the Spanish civil war, starting with the obsessive desire of a father who tries to impose the logic of his convictions on his son.
