HUMBERTO LOPEZ Y GUERRA

Humberto López y Guerra is a Cuban-Swiss filmmaker, journalist and writer who began his cinematographic career in Cuba, later on training further in Switzerland. He studied directing at the Deutschen Hochschule für Filmkunst in Bablesberg, Germany(1963-1967). He has directed over 20 documentaries and TV series, including 'Federico García Lorca: Asesinato en Granada', first shown in 1980 and about which the New York Times wrote that it had had the largest audience on Spanish TV; 'Arrabal' (1978), selected for the Prix Italia 1981; 'La Larga Condena', selecte for an Emmy in 1981; 'La Cuba de Castro', the most complete series onCuba of the 1980s and Odskans år (the bad years), first prize for TV series in the Nordic countries.
