Germán Machado was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and currently lives in Vic, Barcelona, where he runs the specialist bookshop El Petit Tresor. In addition to selling books, he is also a writer and promoter of culture. His work includes stories for children and adults, poetry and picture books and has been published in both Latin America and Spain. Among other prizes he was awarded the ALIJA (IBBY Argentina) poetry prize in 2010.
