Gabriel Janer Manila

Gabriel Janer Manila (Algaida, 1940) is a novelist, essay writer and pedagogue. Since 1975, he has alternated writing novels and essays for adults with children’s and young adult literature, an area in which he has won such prestigious prizes as the Josep M. Folch i Torres (1975) and the Premio Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil (1994). In 1979 he published an essay based on his doctoral thesis about the case of Marcos and the educational problems of wild children. Thirty years later, the story of Marcos has matured into a novel, He jugado con lobos, which was awarded the Joaquim Ruyra young adult novel prize (2009).
