Coia Valls
Coia Valls

Coia Valls (Reus, 1960) is a writer and actor. She also works as a therapy and speech therapy teacher. In autumn 2010 she won the Néstor Luján prize for the Historical Novel with La princesa de jade (The Jade Princess). Since then she has published several novels with Ediciones B: El mercader (The Merchant, 2012), Las torres del cielo (Towers in the Sky, 2013), La cocinera (The Cook, 2014), Amor prohibido (Forbidden Love, 2015) and Etheria ( 2016). She has published inspirational literature, Si tú me escuchas (If You Listen to Me, 2018) and child and young adult fiction. Among other prizes she has won are the L’Illa dels Llibres readers' prize, Llegir en Cas d’Incendi prize for best novel in Catalan and best historical novel prize in 2012. Her work has been translated into Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. As a playwright she has adapted many of her novels for the stage.
