Clara Sánchez (Guadalajara, 1955) spent her childhood in Valencia and ended up settling in Madrid. Following a number of other jobs, she taught at the university and worked with various media outlets. In 1989 she published the novel 'Piedras preciosas' ('Precious Stones'), which was followed by various others including 'Últimas noticias del paraíso' ('The Latest News from Paradise') (Winner of the Premio Alfaguara de Novela 2000), 'Presentimientos' ('Premonitions') (2008), 'Lo que esconde tu nombre' (published in English as 'The Scent of Lemon Leaves') which won the 2010 Premio Nadal and launched her into the international market with great success, and 'El cielo ha vuelto' ('The Sky Has Fallen'), which won her the Premio Planeta prize in 2013. Her work has been translated into more than twenty languages and has made her one of Spain's best known authors.
