Ángela Becerra
Ángela Becerra

Ángela Becerra was born in Cali, Colombia where she studied Communication. In 2000 she was the creative vice-president of one of the most well-respected agencies in Spain but she decided to leave this successful career behind in order to pursue her true passion: literature. Her first book, "Alma abierta" [Open Soul] (2001) is a beautiful collection of poems which looks at the conflicts of growing old; "De los amores negados" [Of Unrequited Love] (2003) was her first novel won the Latin Literary Award (2004) at the prestigious Chicago Book Fair and was given a warm reception both by critics and readers in Spain and Latin America. "El penúltimo sueño" [The Penultimate Dream](2005) secured her reputation as a great novelist and it was with this title she won the Azorín Prize for Literature (2005), the Prize for Best Colombian Work of Fiction (2005) and, once again the Latin Literary Award (2006).
