Almudena Suárez

Freelance illustrator born and trained in Barcelona. She studied medieval history, which is how she gained her experience in the restoration, iconography and illumination of parchments. For 16 years she directed her own Byzantine iconography workshop, working with pigments, gold leaf and varnishes. In 2008 she decided to start her career as an illustrator and drew on all the techniques she had learned in other fields. She has collaborated with professionals such as Ignasi Blanch, Cristina Losantos, Rebeca Luciani, Roger Olmos, Arianne Faber and Arianna Squilloni, and has worked with the publishers Sd. Editions and Editorial Youth. She now spends all her time telling stories, through picture books, art books, workshops and storytelling sessions... She’s happiest when she has a story in her head and a pencil in her hands.
