Almudena Grandes
Almudena Grandes

Almudena Grandes (Madrid, 1960) found fame in 1989 with "Las edades de Lulú" [The Ages of Lulu], XI La Sonrisa Vertical Award. Her works have made her a must-read author, several have been adapted for the cinema and theatre, and they have won, among others, the Lara Foundation Prize, the Madrid Booksellers' Prize and the Seville Booksellers' Prize, the Rapallo Carige and the Prix Méditerranée. With "Inés y la alegría" [Inés and Happiness] (Madrid Critics' Prize, Elena Poniatowska and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prizes) she launced the series "Episodios de una Guerra Interminable" [Episodes of an Endless War], which also includes "El lector de Julio Verne" [The Jules Verne Reader], "Las tres bodas de Manolita" [The Three Weddings of Manolita], "Los pacientes del doctor García" [The Patients of Doctor García] (National Narrative Prize 2018) and "La madre de Frankenstein" [The Mother of Frankenstein], an unpredictable love story that is also a story of redemption.
