Fernando Fernández (Barcelona, February 7th, 1940 - Barcelona, August 9th, 2010) was a Spanish cartoonist, illustrator, cover artist and painter. His graphic art style resembles illustrations, avoiding any overtly cartoonish nuances. Together with other authors of his generation, he participated in the renovation of comics in Spain. During his first years as an artist, he worked as a cartoonist for the French and English markets, using scripts by other people; in time, he went on to work as an illustrator. He built a reputation as a cover artist and illustrator for books and magazines in all European markets, and later also in the US. He also published educational books in color as well as a successful daily comic strip. With the rise of comics in the mid '70s, he went back to comic books, this time doing both his art and his scripts, and was eventually recognized as one of the best.
