Carlota Gurt

Charlotte Gurt (Barcelona, 1976). Holds degrees in Translation and Interpretation, East Asian Studies, Humanities, Business and Audiovisual Communication. She has been working as a translator for over ten years, and for the last two years has worked almost exclusively in theatrical subtitling and literary translation, translating authors of all kinds: from Nino Haratischwili, Hans Magnus Enzensberger and Peter Handke, to Sarah Lark and David Saffier. Like the characters in her first book, she prefers to ride her life without a safety belt, juggling three children, translating, writing and reading, as well as dreaming whenever she can afford it. She made her literary debut by winning the 2019 Mercè Rodoreda Prize with Cavalcarem tota la nit, and topped that success with her second book, Alone, a novel that became an instant bestseller in Catalan and other languages.
