Born in Caracas in 1960, he is a poet and novelist. Author of the novel También el corazon es un descuido and the collection of short stories Edición de lujo, plus the poetry collections Coyote de ventanas and Tal vez el fró. In collaboration with the journaist Cristina Marcano, he has published the first documented biography of the Venezuelan president, Hugo Chávez sin uniforme: Una historia personal, which has had great international sucess. He has a degree in Literarture from the Universidad Central de Caracas, where he also teaches. He has, for years, worked as a television scriptwriter on Venezuelan, Argentinian, Colombian and Mexican soap operas. Several of his texts have appeared in Venezuelan and international media, including El País, Letras Libres, Etiqueta Negra and Gatopardo. Since 1996, he has been a columnist on the Sunday edition of El Nacional.
