Laura Catalán was born in Vigo. She studied Humanities and Anthropology but she felt as if these areas were missing an ingredient.
Spanish author of children's books, specialising in fantasy. In 1999 she won El Barco de Vapor prize for Finis Mundi, a novel set in the Middle Ages. Three years later she won the same award with La leyenda del Rey Errante (The Legend of the Wandering King). Her publications currently comprise twenty-seven novels for young people and some stories for children, with more than a million copies sold in Spain alone and translations into sixteen languages.
